Q. Is the Boa lace reel strong enough for a horse boot and aggressive trail riding?
A. Bet you can’t break one. Our design goal from the beginning has been that the reel should outlast the boots in any conditions. The Boa Lacing System™ has been under development in the snowboard boot industry for 5 years.

Q. Can I replace the lace with a new one?
A. Yes. In the rare case where a lace breaks, replacing a Boa lace is faster than putting in a new shoelace.

Q. Do you need horseshoes in addition to Boa Horse Boots™?
A. No. Boa Horse Boots™ provide complete hoof protection and traction.

Q. Does wearing Boa Horse Boots™ over iron shoes increase wear on the Boa Horse Boot™?
A. Yes. Although Boa Horse Boots™ can be worn over steel shoes in a variety of situations, wear of the Boa Horse Boot™ is increased when fitted over shoes and will void warranty.

Q. Do you leave Boa Horse Boots™ on all the time?
A. No. Let the horse go barefoot all you can. Use Boa Horse Boots™ only when the horse needs foot protection, traction or treatment.

Q. Are Boa Horse Boots™ good for snow and ice?
A. Yes. Boa Horse Boot’s™ polyurethane surface eliminates snow balling up on the bottom of the boot as it would on the sole of a horse wearing standard shoes.

Q. Will water get into the boot?
A. Yes. A limited amount of water can get in the boot. This is harmless and sometimes makes the hoof healthier. Boa Horse Boots™ can also be used to soak and soften the hoof for easier trimming. There are also drainage holes in the bottom of the boot to assist with allowing the water to escape.

Q. How can the hoof be medicated with Boa Horse Boot™?
A. Although Boa Horse Boots™ have many veterinary and medical uses, they should not be used to hold medications or invasive substances. Many of the medicines used to treat hoof ailments will react adversely with Boa Horse Boot leathers and the urethane sole.

Q. Will sand, gravel and mud get into the boot?
A. Yes. A small amount of sand, gravel or mud can get in, but not enough to cause harm. If you are riding in an area with deep mud or sand, simply remove the boots and clean during extended rides. The Boa Gaiter can also be used to help prevent excessive sand or mud from entering the boot.

Q. Will Boa Horse Boots™ give good traction on pavement?
A. Yes. They provide sure footing for the horse and safety for the rider. Shod horses can be dangerous on pavement. Boa Horse Boots™ prevent slipping. They make excellent parade footwear and reduce concussion.

Q. Can Boa Horse Boots™ be used in the mountains?
A. Yes. They give horses good traction in rocky terrain, protect the sole from stone bruises and the wall and bulbs from abrasion.

Q. How do Boa Horse Boots™ help when shipping?
A. Boa Horse Boots™ protect a horse who steps on himself in a trailer. Race horse owners put Boa Horse Boots™ over racing plates instead of wrapping the legs or pulling the plates. The boots provide excellent traction on ramps and moving surfaces.

Q. How will Boa Horse Boots™ affect a horse that over-reaches or interferes?
A. Boa Horse Boots™ provide protection for the heel bulbs and walls.

Q. Is it necessary to trim the horse’s hooves?
A. All horses need occasional trimming.

Q. With such a variety in the shape of hooves, how can a good fit be assured?
A. Boa Horse Boots™ are tailored for maximum adjustability and fit. As the Boa Lacing System™ tightens, the fabric and leather upper of the Boa Horse Boot™ pulls from the bulb area and tightens around the hoof wall, allowing a custom fit to each hoof. The six sizes adjust as the Boa Lacing System™ tightens to accommodate all normal hoof variations.

Q. Are Boa Horse Boots™ guaranteed?
A. Yes, see warranty.

Q. What should I use to waterproof my Boa Horse Boots™?
A. We recommend using water-based products like Nikwax. Nikwax information can be found at www.nikwax-usa.com.

Q. How does a Boa Horse Boot™ allow for normal hoof growth and expansion?
A. The Boa Lacing System™ gives the Boa Horse Boot™ Dynamic Closure™. This unique design feature allows for natural hoof growth, including normal expansion and contraction of the hoof. Because there is very little friction between the Boa lace and lace guides, the lace "micro-adjusts" with hoof movement.

Q. Can I leave Boa Horse Boots™ on my horse for extended periods?
A. Imagine the result of bacteria build-up from sweat on your own foot after being confined in an athletic shoe! For the same reason, we recommend you DO NOT leave Boa Horse Boots™ on any horse longer than 24 hours at a time.

Q. What is the projected useful life of a Boa Horse Boot™?
A. Boa Horse Boots™ are fully guaranteed for 90 days. Your "mileage" will depend, of course, on a number of factors. How often do you ride? Do you ride on asphalt or dirt, for 30 minutes or 10 miles? Your boots may show wear at the toe, while another horse’s boots may indicate wear on the inside. Regardless of the way your horse travels, Boa Horse Boots™ will out-perform a metal horseshoe, as well as provide insurance against injury.

Q. Why should I choose Boa Horse Boots™?
A. Quality, value and performance are all trademarks of any EasyCare product. Boa Horse Boots™ are a high-tech answer to an age-old question: how to protect the hoof and limbs, without compromising their natural mechanics. The technology behind the Boa Horse Boot™ is solid and reliable – you won’t find a better boot, in design or function.

Q. What do the  Horse Boots™ each weigh?
A. Weight per boot is dependent upon the size.  The weight ranges from .8 lbs for the size 00 to 1.4 lbs for the largest size, 4.
