Properly cared for, a pair of Boa Horse Boots™ will last for years. In general, to care for your boots, there are three steps to follow: cleaning, drying, and conditioning. 1. Cleaning: On a regular basis, brush away surface dirt with a soft brush. After extended, rugged use, wash with mild soap and warm water. Be sure to rinse all soap off before drying. 2. Drying: Open boot fully, dry at room temperature. Never expose to heat! 3. Conditioning: Recommended treatment for top Grain Leather: NikWax® Paste Wax. Information on NikWax® Paste Wax can be found at www.nikwax-usa.com.
Hard riding in rough terrain can sometimes result in frayed or broken laces. Fortunately, a broken lace does not mean the end of the line for your Boa Horse Boot™. See the accessories page for new lace kits.
How to Replace Laces: 1. Push dial in. 2. Insert the lace tool (supplied with the replacement lace kit) through the hole in the center of the dial. Engage the screw inside and loosen it. 3. Remove the dial. 4. Pull out the slack in the lace. 5. Rotate the drive shaft to line up the holes in the lace spool with the holes in the plastic reel housing. Use the plastic end of the lace tool or your fingers. 6. Use the lace tool (1.3mm hex wrench) to loosen the set screws in the spool about one full turn. DO NOT remove the set screws completely. Pull out the ends of the old lace and remove completely from the boot. Feed the new lace through all the lace guides in the boot. Before attaching the lace ends to the reel, remove any twists in the lace. 7. Align the holes again as described in step #5 above. Insert one of the new lace ends into the reel as shown. BE SURE THE LACE END IS FED ALL THE WAY INTO THE SPOOL: you can tell because the end is visible in the viewing hole. 8. Tighten the set screw with the lace tool provided. Be careful not to strip the set screw, but tighten VERY tight. 9. Replace the knob and tighten it back up with the lace tool just a little more than finger tight. Don’t overtighten it.
